The Northern Italy Mechanical Engineering SMEs Observatory 2026 is an independent research initiative organised by Nomesis, dedicated exclusively to mechanical engineering SMEs in Northern Italy. It is a tool that aggregates real-world data on market perceptions to provide an objective overview of the sector. An independent research project designed to understand developments, challenges, investment, innovation and new competitive models within the manufacturing sector. The aim is not merely to describe the present, but to identify emerging trends, successful organisational models and the sector’s future trajectories.

The aim is to provide entrepreneurs with a strategic compass: not opinions, but hard data on how customers and the market perceive the value of manufacturing companies compared with their competitors. It enables businesses to gauge their actual positioning in a ‘fragmented’ market, where technical quality is a basic requirement but is no longer the sole differentiating factor.

Nomesis promotes and manages the Observatory for two reasons: to consolidate its database on industrial trends in Northern Italy and to establish an initial point of contact with leading manufacturers who do not usually make use of the strategic consultancy services we offer.

The project is aimed at senior executives in B2B companies operating in the fields of mechanical engineering, complex components and tooling. It is designed for those who lead their companies and wish to move beyond a purely technical focus in order to understand their commercial strengths.
